Mozzies

An active Mongolia – Australia Alumni Association “Mozzies” exists in Ulaanbaatar. The Association maintains an office and a secretary to manage its interests which are primarily social. Part of the strength of the Association derives from the fact that scholars in NSW and Victoria actively sought each other out when in Australia and partly because accompanying spouses and children formed strong bonds as well. These are matters CaBSAF wishs to facilitate in the future when Mongolian scholars are in Australia.

Members of the Association have achieved high office in MGAs and in the private sector and NGOs. One indicator of their attitude is their appropriation of the term ‘mozzies’ to describe themselves. Mozzies – Mongolian Ozzies.

Association members and other graduates consulted have indicated their keen willingness to assist the Facility in at least three ways. These are by:

– taking on a mentoring role for new ADS and DE scholars

– assisting with Monitoring & Evaluation tasks

– providing a pool of expertise and advice to support the work of CaBSAF and Facility Coordinating Committee.
